CHCA...Simple Solutions

For the Patient

CHCA advises persons about reasonable accommodations and assistive devices they can expect health care facilities to offer under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Advocacy assistance is available to help resolve problem issues.

CHCA provides information and referrals to hospital staff members so they may be adequately equipped to meet the individual communication needs of each patient.

For the Health Care Provider

Often overlooked by health care provider organizations are the special communication needs of deaf, hard of hearing and deaf-blind persons who are, under the ADA, guaranteed accessibility to services. To help identify reasonable accommodations, CHCA can offer materials or training sessions enabling staff to meet the highest professional standards, and to be in compliance with the ADA.
We can provide information or answer questions about the following:

  • Qualified sign language & oral interpreters
  • Assistive listening and alerting devices
  • TTYs and amplified telephones
  • Communication tips
  • Referral agencies and sources in your area
  • Hospital staff training
  • Other questions - please call us and your concerns will be addressed as soon as possible
