Bruce G. Smith, LCSW-R, Senior Clinical Social Worker has worked with the Deaf/hard of hearing population for over 25 years and has practiced at CHC since 1999. He specializes in individual and family psychotherapy with Deaf and hard of hearing people, including tactile sign language for deaf-blind individuals. He has trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and uses this and a variety of other therapeutic approaches to match his clients’ needs in attaining their stated goals. His extensive working knowledge of the services available for the Deaf community in NYC aids in a problem-solving approach when applicable. He supervises and trains graduate students of social work/counseling programs. Mr. Smith earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University in 1988 and has been certified by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.
