Mrs. Hickman re-joined the CHC-FL family in 2019. Mrs. Ferrier Hickman is currently a Mental Health Counselor working with children, adolescents, and adults in South Florida. She respects diversity in others and does not discriminate based on a person’s religious beliefs, socioeconomic status, physical and/or mental abilities, gender, age, sexual orientation/identity, ethnicity, and race. She strives to be genuine, empathetic, and mindful of potential personal biases. Mrs. Ferrier Hickman works mostly from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic (CBT) focus base, but will explore alternative therapeutic approaches to meet the client where they are and create a partnership to determine how best to meet their needs.
She has worked with Deaf and Hard of Hearing community for the past nine years in her roles as a Mental Health Counselor, School Counselor for the Deaf, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor-Deaf Language Specialist (in the state of New Jersey), and Case Manager. Mrs. Ferrier Hickman attained an Advance proficiency rating on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI), as well as attained superior ratings on the New Jersey Department of Labor’s Vocational Rehabilitation Service Sign Language Communication Evaluation (SLCE). Mrs. Ferrier Hickman earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University in 2015. Ms. Ferrier Hickman is a mother of two, a former corporate pilot, and enjoys reading David Baldacci novels.
