Tyler Nellissen, MHC-LP, is a psychotherapist providing mental health counseling services with empathy, creativity, and warmth. He provides services in English and in American Sign Language. He is particularly passionate about helping clients explore and integrate all aspects of their identities, creating deeper self-acceptance while clarifying areas they wish to change.
Tyler’s therapeutic approach is rooted in psychodynamic and Gestalt theories which emphasizes the potential of the present moment and helps clients understand themselves holistically. He works collaboratively with clients to empower them to face challenges with new perspectives and inner strength. Whether navigating emotional difficulties, pursuing personal growth, or building coping strategies, Tyler tailors his approach to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Tyler has worked with the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community for over 15 years as a case manager, a nationally certified interpreter, and now as psychotherapist. He earned his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY Brooklyn College and his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University. Tyler is continuing his education at a local Gestalt training institute.
