Ensuring Health and Safety at CHC

We are reaching out to you, and all of our clients, asking for your assistance in keeping the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC) as healthy and safe as possible during flu and virus season, and particularly now as we are monitoring the situation associated with the current Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19).
CHC always follows best practices for infection control, maintaining our space and keeping equipment clean, with staff always practicing standard recommendations to reduce exposure to and transmission of a variety of illnesses. We have taken additional precautions during this time, including removing all toys from our waiting rooms and increasing the frequency of disinfecting countertops and shared spaces. In addition, our building has increased their own cleaning procedures to include more frequent disinfecting of all elevator buttons and public door handles.
During the current situation, we ask that all clients, and those who accompany clients to CHC, help us to keep all of our clients, staff, and other visitors safe and healthy. To that end, we ask the following.
Recommended Steps to Take
If you or anyone who is accompanying you has traveled to an area of the world highly impacted by COVID-19 (areas labeled as Level 2 or 3), please do not visit CHC for 14 days after you return from these countries. You can view the list on the CDC website. Visit www.CDC.gov.
If you have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, we ask that you not visit CHC and recommend that you call your physician for guidance.
There are some simple behaviors that are particularly effective at preventing the flu and other viruses that should always be followed:
Stay home if you are sick, especially with a fever.
Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve, not your hands.
Wash hands often for at least 20 seconds, especially after coughing or sneezing.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Avoid people who are sick.
It is important that we be vigilant, but also remain calm and thoughtful. At this time, CHC is open and fully operational as usual. We will keep you updated if the situation should change.
