CHC Announces Leadership Transition

New York, NY — January 28, 2026 — The Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC), the longest running non-profit in NYC in the hearing health space, announces the upcoming retirement of Executive Director Laurie Hanin, Ph.D., CCC-A, after more than three decades of dedicated service. Nancy Nadler, M.Ed., M.A., currently Deputy Executive Director, has been appointed to succeed Dr. Hanin, effective June 15, 2026.

“This thoughtfully planned transition strengthens CHC’s commitment to our mission and community,” said Heather Baker, President of CHC’s Board of Directors. “Laurie’s leadership has positioned CHC for long-term success and cultivated an organization that is deeply mission-driven, clinically excellent, and well prepared for the future.”

Dr. Hanin joined CHC in 1992 as Director of Audiology and became Executive Director in 2004. During her tenure, she built and led an exceptional multidisciplinary team of clinicians and staff known for providing state-of-the-art, patient- and family-centered care. Under her leadership, CHC strengthened its clinical model, achieved remarkable staff retention, and fostered a culture of excellence in which people choose to build long-term careers because they believe deeply in the mission and the impact of the work. Dr. Hanin also guided the organization through its transition from the League for the Hard of Hearing to the Center for Hearing and Communication, a change that more clearly reflects the breadth, depth, and evolution of CHC’s services across the lifespan.

CHC enters this next chapter from a position of strength. Nancy Nadler brings more than 25 years of experience at CHC and deep institutional knowledge of the organization’s mission, programs, and community. As Deputy Executive Director, she oversees development, marketing, strategic initiatives, and board relations, and has worked closely with the Board and senior leadership to advance CHC’s long-term vision. She has played a central role in strengthening partnerships, expanding access to care, and supporting the organization’s continued growth while remaining grounded in CHC’s values and commitment to patient- and family-centered services.

“The Board has worked closely with Nancy for decades and has the highest confidence in her leadership,” Baker added. “We cannot think of anyone better prepared to lead CHC into its next chapter while building on the strong foundation Laurie has established.”

In the coming months, CHC will share opportunities to honor Dr. Hanin’s legacy and celebrate her extraordinary contributions. Building on the strong foundation she has established, the organization looks ahead with confidence as it enters this next phase of leadership and impact.
