Opportunity for Special Merch and Book Donation
Mighty Mila is hands down one of the absolute favorite books of nearly every child receiving services at CHC. So we're thrilled to report that the follow-up book in the series, Mighty Mila: Dream Job, will be available later this month.
Mighty Mila's author, Katie Petruzziello—mom to two deaf/hard of hearing daughters—reached out to CHC so we could let our community know about the launch and a special Kickstarter campaign.
For those unfamiliar with the Mighty Mila series, the books feature a deaf main character with cochlear implants who is inspired by Katie's oldest daughter. Katie conceived of the books as a way of enhancing deaf representation in children's literature while encouraging children to dream big and celebrate their differences.
You can now preorder Mighty Mila: Dream Job and take advantage of Katie's Kickstarter launch campaign (September 19 - October 18). For a limited time, you can order exclusive Mighty Mila merchandise and also make book donations to hearing loss organizations. Katie has graciously selected the Center for Hearing and Communication (CHC) as a recipient of donated books which we look forward to gifting to CHC families and their schools.

Special Advocacy Presentation
Katie also has been working with Mila and Sofia’s teacher of the deaf to create an “All About Mighty Me” advocacy presentation that kids can easily tailor to share more with their classmates about their hearing journey, devices and ways their classmates can support them. Giving a presentation like this to the class goes a long way toward building confidence and advocacy skills.
You can download the advocacy template here: www.mightymila.com/resources.
Thank you to Katie for sharing all of this news and for designating CHC as one of the participating charities in her program.
Enjoy the book and let us know what you think!
