Bios
Camille Mihalik, MA, CCC-SLP, TSSLD
Director, Shelley and Steven Einhorn Communication Center
Camille Mihalik is a speech-language pathologist with extensive experience working individually and in groups with children who are deaf and hard of hearing. She is passionate in her approach to aural habilitation, which includes working collaboratively with parents and training them to promote development of their child’s speech, listening and language skills at home. Camille received her BA in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Hofstra University and her MA in Speech Language Pathology at New York University.
Michele DiStefano, AuD, CCC-A
Director, Shelley and Steven Einhorn Audiology Center and Berelson Hearing Technology Center
Dr. Michele DiStefano is Director of CHC's Shelley and Steven Einhorn Audiology Center and Berelson Hearing Technology Center. Dr. DiStefano joined CHC in 2017 with expertise in pediatric audiology honed at Beth Israel Medical Center, Clarke Schools, and New York Eye and Ear. A graduate of the audiology program at CUNY-Brooklyn College, Dr DiStefano sees children and adults at CHC with a focus on comprehensive diagnostic testing, fitting of amplification/FM systems, post-fitting counseling and Early Intervention. Dr. DiStefano is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) with specialized training and certification for caring for individuals with dementia. Additionally, she is on the Board of Directors of the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NYSSLHA), a professional organization in New York state that represents the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology and individuals served by members of these professions.
Paul Aguirre, LCSW-R
Director, Baker Family Emotional Health and Wellness Center
Paul David Aguirre, LCSW-R, is the Director of the Baker Family Emotional Health and Wellness Center and has been with CHC since 2015. He attained proficiency in American Sign Language through his early career work at National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, NY, and has since worked extensively with children, adolescents and adults who are deaf, hearing and hard-of-hearing in all treatment modalities. Prior to joining the CHC team, he spent five years with New York Society for the Deaf (NYSD), created a mentoring program at the Long Island Crisis Center, and interned at CancerCare and Green Chimneys’ Transitional Housing Program for LGBT youth. Mr. Aguirre earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work at Adelphi University, New York, in 2007.
Dana N. Selznick, M.A., M.Ed.
Director, Education Center
Dana Selznick is an education specialist dedicated to helping your child with hearing loss or auditory challenges get the support and accommodations they need to thrive academically and reach their true potential. She’s an indispensable resource for parents seeking help in navigating Early Intervention (EI), Committee on Preschool Education (CPSE), Deaf Infant Program (DIP) and the New York State educational system. As Coordinator of the Family Resource Center, she facilitates peer support through educational and social events that bring CHC families together throughout the year. Dana received an undergraduate degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education at the University of North Florida and her M.A. and M.Ed. in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education and Elementary Education at Columbia University.
