Gold Standard of Pediatric Hearing Health Care

A hallmark of the Center for Hearing and Communication’s (CHC) Pediatric Center is the Comprehensive Intake Process, an enhanced intake experience in which parents of new pediatric clients meet together with the directors of CHC’s clinical departments—audiology, speech and language, education, and mental health—to ensure their child’s needs are understood and addressed from every angle.
Coordinated Entry Point to Hearing Care
Children with hearing loss often have needs that span multiple areas of development. At CHC our goal is to give families a clear, coordinated entry point to care—one that considers needs of the whole child and family from the very beginning.
Through this program, families participate in a structured meeting that typically takes place after an initial assessment or two have been completed. Often this may be a hearing test and a speech and language evaluation. This meeting brings CHC's full pediatric leadership team together. By meeting with the directors of each discipline, early on in their child's journey, families can benefit from shared clinical insight, aligned recommendations, and a unified understanding of their child’s strengths, challenges, and priorities.

This collaborative approach assures families have access to the professionals they may need, either at the onset or further down the road. The clinical team works together with the family to develop a thoughtful, individualized roadmap—one that supports communication development, educational access, emotional well-being, and family confidence.
Foundation for Meaningful Progress
For families, the experience is both reassuring and empowering. Questions are addressed in one place, care plans are cohesive, and parents leave with clarity about what comes next. For CHC, this Comprehensive Intake Process strengthens our ability to serve diverse pediatric clients, including children with complex or multi-faceted needs, by embedding collaboration into the intake process itself.
Above all, the program reflects CHC’s longstanding commitment to treating the whole child and supporting the whole family—setting the foundation for meaningful progress from day one.
